September is here!

Tuesday, September 01, 2015 Books And Trips

So yay, September is finally here - which for me means one thing: my long time expected trip to Barcelona is going to happen in one week!

I'm looking forward to strolling around this beautiful city that seems out of a fairytale, to dipping my toes in the Mediterranean Sea, and to climbing up Montjuic and Tibidabo. I cannot wait to see Gaudi's masterpieces - Casa Batlo, Casa Milla and Parc Guell, to walk around La Rambla and Cartiero Gotico, and to lose myself in Raval. I am very excited to try out the local cuisine, all those tapas, jamon iberico, seafood, paella, sangria and the wonderful desert made of baby panda tears and angel wing feathers - Crema Catalan.

So why Barcelona? Because 10 years ago I had the opportunity to see a glimpse of it for 24 hours and this city remained in my heart ever since. After that very short trip, I promised myself I would come back to truly take advantage of all that it has to offer.

Therefore, this year, after careful planning and research, me & my fiance are finally going to the city of Gaudi.

We booked the trip back in February 2015, when Tarom had a promotion with all round trip flights for 100 EUR, including all taxes and luggage. This was a great deal for us, as normally you wouldn't find Bucharest - Barcelona plane tickets under 100 EUR. Once we had our flights paid for, we did some research on Booking.com and found this nice hotel in the San Marti area - Attica 21 Barcelona del Mar. The comments were positive, and I cannot wait to see it in person. We chose it based on the proximity to the beach and to Selva del Mar metro station and for the access to a pool, be it small and on the roof as it is.

I understand that Barcelona is pretty easy to navigate via subway - therefore we did not order a transfer service from the airport to the hotel for our inbound flight, but we did so for the outbound one, to make sure we make it back on time.

I am really excited about this trip, and I cannot wait for all the lovely experiences Barcelona has to offer.

When I come back and I have a little bit of time, I will also tell you all about the lovely trip to Sighisoara (Romania) and Athens (Greece) - that took place this summer, before I started my blog.

So enjoy September - I hope it will bring you wonderful things as well!

Cheers!
